Romania reports 78 new weekly cases of COVID-19, down 20pct, one death

The National Public Health Institute (INSP) has reported that between March 17 and 23, 78 new cases of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 were reported in Romania, down 20% from the previous week.

According to INSP, 19 of the new cases were in reinfected patients who tested positive more than 90 days after the first infection.

Between March 17 and 23, one death was reported in a person infected with SARS-CoV-2.

So far, 69,255 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection have died in Romania.

As of this week, 3,583,299 cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection were recorded in the country.

Last week, 652 RT-PCR tests and 9,379 rapid antigen tests were performed. The positivity rate was 0.8%.

So far, 14,047,087 RT-PCR tests and 15,309,067 rapid antigen tests have been processed nationwide.
