Romanian tennis player Irina Begu climbed 6 positions to spot 25 in the latest Women's Tennis Association (WTA) rankings released on Monday. Begu thus made a comeback to her highest ranking reached on October 12, 2015.
Romania has another two players in the top 100 ranking - Monica Niculescu on position 58 (-2) and Sorana Cirstea on spot 92 (-2). Ana Bogdan also succeeded her best position so far, WTA's No. 112.
In the doubles' rankings Monica Niculescu is further on spot 16, Irina Begu is steady on 46, Raluca Olaru lost one notch to 60 and Andreea Mitu dropped six places to 79. In the WTA Road to Singapore rankings Simona Halep is further on third position and Irina Begu leaped 13 spots to 20th. In the WTA rankings by this year's prize money, Simona Halep is 5th with 2.5 million US dollars and Begu is 28th with 736,000 dollars.
