Romanian tennis player Mihaela Buzarnescu on Monday advanced to the women's singles second round of the 3.1-million-USD WTA tournament in Doha (Qatar), after defeating Ukraine's Lesia Tsurenko 7-5 6-4 in an hour and 57 minutes.
For her performance so far, Buzarnescu won 17,325 US dollars and 60 WTA singles points. Her next opponent is sixth-seeded Jelena Ostapenko of Latvia. Also included in the Doha main draw are four more Romanian players: Simona Halep, Sorana Cirstea, Irina Begu and Monica Niculescu.
