Romanian tennis player Elena Gabriela Ruse qualified on Thursday for the women's singles quarter finals and in the women's doubles semifinals of the ITF tournament in Yokohama (Japan), with prizes worth 25,000 US dollar.
Ruse (aged 21, WTA's 253rd), managed to defeat UK's Katy Dinne (aged 24, WTA's 296th) in the round of 16 in one hour and 24 minutes, 7-5, 6-3, scoring 5 aces and 5 doubles errors.
In the quarter finals, the Romanian national will face off Japan's Naho Sato (aged 18, WTA's 612nd).
Ruse also qualified for the women's doubles semifinals, alongside UK's Gabriella Taylor, after defeating US pair made up of Robin Anderson/Catherine Harrison in the quarter finals with a score of 6-2, 4-6, 10-8. In the semifinal event, they are to face off main seeds Ji Hee Choi/Na-Lae Han (South Korea).
