Romanian tennis player Simona Halep, world no.1, qualified for the final of the World Tennis Thailand Championship in Hua Hin( an annual tennis exhibition), after defeating British Johanna Konta in the first semifinal, with a score of 6-3, 6-3.
Halep (aged 26) managed to defeat her British opponent (WTA's 9th) in one hour and 30 minutes.
Halep and Konta have a 3-3 tie in direct official events, but two of Simona's victories were scored in the Fed Cup and only one in the WTA circuit. The two of them also played an exhibition match, at the Tie Break Tens tournament in Madrid, where Halep defeated Konta with a score of 10-2.
In the final on Sunday, Halep will face off the winner of the other semifinal, namely Karolina Pliskova (Czech Republic/WTA's 4th). The event will take place at 13:00hrs, local time.
