Romania women's water polo team will play for the 9th-16th places at the European Championship in Funchal (Portugal), after being defeated by Spain, the reigning Olympic champions, with a score of 22-4 (7-1, 4-1, 5-1, 6-1), on Thursday, in the last match of Group B.
After 7-12 with Portugal and 3-28 with Hungary, the tricolors scored against Spain through Krisztina-Emese Szeghalmi, Sara-Maria Pascu, Ana-Maria Serbanescu and Debora-Julia Nagy.
In the other group match, Hungary outclassed Portugal 28-4.
In the final standings, Hungary ranked first, with 9 points, followed by Spain - 6 points, Portugal - 3 points, Romania - 0 points. The first two ranked teams qualified for the main groups (places 1-8), while the last two will play for positions 9-16.
