The political trilogues for the proposals transposing the recommendations regarding the swordfish, as well as the measures of the General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean Sea (GFCM) were two of the topics tackled by the Romanian Presidency at the European Union Council in the first three weeks of tenure, a release of the Agriculture and Rural Development Ministry (MADR) sent to AGERPRES on Friday informs.
Other topics tackled during Romania's Presidency's first three weeks of tenure aimed at the Regulation amending the EU Regulations No.1305/2013 and No.1307/2013 in respect to certain norms regarding the direct payments and support for rural development for 2019 and 2020. The directive regarding the unfair commercial practices and the Regulation on the definition, presentation and labelling of spirit drinks, the use of the names of spirit drinks in the presentation and labelling of other foodstuffs and the protection of geographical indications for spirit drinks.
Between 22 and 23 January 2019, Agriculture and Regional Development Minister Petre Daea presented the priorities and the programme for the next six months in the specialist committees of the European Parliament. The Romanian official explained the special context in which the Presidency will unfold, namely the constrains imposed by the conclusion of the European Parliament mandate.
