The Romanian state remains firmly committed to building the premises for a just and lasting peace, based on the two-state solution - Israel and Palestine - living together in peace and security, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Oana Toiu declared on Tuesday, after meeting with her Israeli counterpart, Gideon Sa'ar, informs the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE).
"We had an open exchange of views on the need to disarm Hamas, humanitarian aid and access to medical care in the Gaza Strip, as well as on the role of the international community in supporting the ceasefire and President Trump's peace plan. Too many families have suffered enormously and, no matter how difficult this moment may be, we must all contribute to a lasting peace and a future in which no child fears for his or her life," the Romanian foreign minister said, according to the cited source.
The Romanian and Israeli ministers explored concrete opportunities for cooperation in the areas of trade and investment, agriculture, transport, defense, education and culture. At the same time, Minister Oana Toiu noted the deep human and cultural ties between Romania and Israel, expressing Romania's interest in maintaining its support for the community of Israelis originating in Romania, who make a valuable contribution to the development of both societies, Romanian and Israeli. Equally, she expressed Romania's firm desire to remain fully engaged in efforts to prevent and combat anti-Semitism.
Referring to Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine, Minister Oana Toiu underlined the consensus at EU level to continue supporting the authorities in Kiev and presented Romania's multidimensional contribution in this regard. Minister Toiuunderlined the importance of respecting the UN Charter, international law and ensuring the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine, in order to ensure a just and lasting peace.
