Romanian tennis player Ana Bogdan qualified on Tuesday for the round of 16 of the WTA 125 tournament in Bari (Italy), with total prizes of 100,000 euros, after defeating American Varvara Lepchenko in two sets, 6-3, 6-3.
Ana Bogdan (32 years old, WTA's 173) needed one hour and 39 minutes to win in front of Lepchenko (39 years old, WTA's 118).
Their only previous match ended with the Romanian's victory, in 2021, in the first round in Budapest, 6-4, 7-5.
Ana Bogdan won a cheque of 1,740 euros and 15 WTA points for reaching this far in the competition, and in the round of 16 she will face Polish Maja Chalinska (23 years old, WTA's 132).
