Romanian tennis player Jaqueline Cristian advanced to the round of 16 of the Puerto Vallarta Open WTA 125 tournament in Mexico, prize money USD 115,000, after defeating British Harriet Dart 6-3 6-2 on Tuesday.
Top seed Cristian, 26, world number 72, prevailed in an hour and 24 minutes, in her first meet against Dart, 28, world number 110.
For her performance so far, the Romanian won USD 2,000 and 15 WTA singles points, and in the round of 16 she will meet Japanese Ena Shibahara, 27, world number 138.
Compatriot Monica Niculescu will play in doubles, paired up with Harriet Dart. N.1 double will play in the quarterfinals Maya Joint (Australia) / Ena Shibahara (Japan).
