The Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service (SIE), Gabriel Vlase, presented on Tuesday to the Parliamentary Committee for the Control of the SIE activity the security situation of Romania from the perspective of this service's attributions.
According to a press release, the SIE director presented the updated situation in terms of national security and answered the questions of the committee, Agerpres.ro informs.
The conclusions of the meeting revealed that membership of the European Union and full membership in NATO provide Romania with the best security guarantees, the SIE constantly monitoring the current security developments at the border with Ukraine and the implications it could have on issues of interest to Romania.
"There is an uninterrupted flow of information on the reporting of the Service to the main threats to national security resulting from the situation in Ukraine and the solutions identified to prevent and counter them. Regarding the mission of the SIE to inform its legal beneficiaries about the risks and threats against Romania, the Committee found that the SIE has complied with its duties, constantly informing the national decision-makers," reads the release signed by the president of the parliamentary committee, Mihai Weber.
