The President of the Senate, Florin Citu, supports the stopping of all commercial exchanges with Russia, and in this sense submitted an amendment to Government Emergency Ordinance no. 25/2021 so that Russian firms can no longer participate in public acquisitions in Romania.
"I asked we stop all commercial trade with Russia. Each time we trade with Russia and buy from there, of course we're supporting a totalitarian regime, which for us represents a risk in the future, we must admit this. I have supported these measures, ultimately it has to be the decision of the coalition, but I personally support, still, harsher measures, tougher sanctions for Russia. And you can see that this is the global trend and you can see that there are costs for all countries. Important leaders at the global level, leaders with vision, are taking these risks because it's about our future, it's our safety in the future, it's not about now," said Citu, on Wednesday, in the Senate.
He emphasized that the sanctions applied to Russia by the European Union have to be implemented.
"The amendment is to the ordinance by which China is excluded from auctions with the Romanian state and we completed it with this amendment by which Russian companies will not be able to attend auctions where there are European funds or funds from the budget of Romania," the PNL leader added.
