The WTA's #4 tennis player Simona Halep said on Tuesday at her arrival in Bucharest that she wishes to play the Fed Cup Romania - Belgium match scheduled for 11 February in the 1st round of World Group II, specifying that she has enough time to recover after the injury she suffered at her left knee during the match she lost to American Shelby Rogers (WTA #52) at the Australian Open.
"I don't know how serious my injury is, I'll have an MRI today and learn more about it. When I had the previous MRI nothing serious emerged, it was just a patellar tendinitis and it's painful. I wish I played the Fed Cup match. I believe I have enough time to recover. But I can't give many details before I see a physician," said the Romanian tennis player at the Bucharest Henri Coanda Airport.
Simona Halep added she is sad about her being eliminated from the first round of Australian Open tournament, but says her spirits are now OK. "There are many other tournaments ahead and I'm glad I'm home and I can see the snow," Halep said.
