Simona Halep leader in WTA ranking for 56th consecutive week

Romanian tennis player Simona Halep ranks first in the WTA ranking for the 56th consecutive week, as announced on Monday.

Halep is ranking 10th in the all-time ranking, but, by the end of the year, she is expected to get closer to the 9th position currently held by Wozniacki, with 71 weeks.

The top 10 didn't suffer any change from the previous release of the ranking, while Anastasija Sevastova climbed up on the 11th positions and Belgian Elise Mertens on the 12th, after Belarusian Arina Sabalenka went down two sports, now raking 13th.

Romania has again six players in the top 100, as Monica Niculescu climbed one spot to reach 100th. Ana Bogdan also climbed two steps to reach 76th.
