Six counties under Code Yellow warning for thunderstorms

Six counties in the west and southwest of Romania will be under a Code Yellow warning for thunderstorms until noon on Tuesday, according to the National Weather Administration (ANM).

Thus, in the southwest of Romania, the weather will become unstable. There will be showers, thunderstorms and short-lived wind gusts of 55 - 65 km/h, thunderstorms and isolated hail. In short intervals or with accumulation, the rainfall will be 25 - 30 litres per square metre and, isolated, more than 40 litres per square metre.

"After midday and during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, atmospheric instability will be particularly evident in the western half of the country," warn meteorologists.

The counties warned are Mehedinti, Gorj, Hunedoara, Caras-Severin, Timis, Arad.
