Romania needs a powerful state, with an efficient, coherent government, able to make quick decision, Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies Marcel Ciolacu, chairman of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) said, on Thursday, at the public presentation of the new Government guarantee programs, organized by the National Credit Guarantee Fund for Small and Medium Enterprises (FNGCIMM).

"Romania needs a powerful state, but not in the area of an oppressive state. It needs a powerful, efficient state, an efficient, coherent and quick decision-making government that can keep a balance, in the coming period, in this challenge, in this imbalance between export and import, in what regards inflation tendencies. No government in the world, no Prime Minister, no Chamber Speaker or Senate President can face these issues without your aid and involvement, without powerful, reasonable banks and indeed, when there is speculation, as is happening now in the energy area, the state must intervene and tax these exceptional incomes and through programs promoted by you return them to the SMEs, to Romanian producers, so they may overcome this period," said Marcel Ciolacu.

"In the past years, the truth is that the state has not been beside Romanian entrepreneurs. There were many statements of good intentions, many pompous promises and posts on social media, but very few results. I've seen Economy ministers who weren't able to apply the SME aid schemes, Energy ministers who promised last year that the price in energy and gas will drop following liberalization. All these things must change. That's why, over 70% of the measures that the PSD has imposed in the economic programme and that of the new government regard solutions and aid schemes for SMEs and the agriculture area. (...) Our target is to support products with high added value," said Ciolacu.

The PSD leader added that, recently, Romania was invited to join the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development - "huge news" which translates to the country's indicators at the macroeconomic level reaching the level of developed states, Agerpres informs.
