Table tennis: Romania's women team defeats Turkey and qualifies for European Championship 2023

The Romanian women's national team qualified for the 2023 European Table Tennis Team Championships, on Wednesday, after defeating Turkish team 3-0, away, in Group A1 of the preliminaries, according to the website of the Romanian Table Tennis Federation.

Adina Diaconu defeated Ozge Yilmaz 3-1 (11-5, 11-4, 8-11, 11-8) in the first match, Bernadette Szocs defeated Sibel Altinkaya, 3-0 (12 -10, 11-3, 11-8), and Andreea Dragoman scored a successful victory against Turkish Ece Harac, 3-2 (6-11, 9-11, 11-6, 11-9, 11-5 ), told Agerpres.

Romania, European vice-champion, also defeated Turkey in Bucharest (3-0), the team coached by Mihaela Steff also winning away against Hungary (3-1).

The first two placed in the group qualify directly for the European Championship. The third-placed teams will play additional qualification matches in the second phase of the groups.

The Romanian men's team will also participate in the European team championships in Malmo (Sweden), qualifying from a group with Slovenia and Ukraine.
