Minister of Economy Florin Spataru requested that a task force be set up at the level of the ministry that will manage the effects of the conflict in Ukraine on certain industrial segments in our country, according to a press release sent to AGERPRES on Wednesday.
The Ministry of Economy, through the Directorate for Industrial Policy and Competitiveness, organizes on Thursday, March 10, a first meeting as a task force with representatives of industrial sectors with significant contribution to Romania's GDP, impacted by the military conflict between Ukraine and the Russian Federation, both from the perspective of the imposed sanctions as well as from that of the impossibility of ensuring the flow of products at the border crossings.
"Given that at least 3 industrial sectors have reported major effects on the activity carried out in Romania, I have decided to set up a working group so that the negative impact on the economy can be managed in a timely manner and we can come up with solutions to support the industry that is already suffering from the military conflicts on the border," said Minister Florin Spataru.
According to the cited source, the interruption of the flow of raw materials, in terms of both import and export, creates difficulties in the supply chains, which generate a major, multiplier impact on the production units in Romania.
"The transit of raw materials and products (import/export) to/from the Russian Federation, whether by air, land or sea, is disrupted both in terms of the context of sanctions as well as of the risk in the conflict zones. The industrial segments that have already communicated a major impact on production to the Ministry of Economy are the automotive, furniture and metallurgical industries," reads the press release.
