Romanian tennis player Ana Bogdan was defeated by Dutch Suzan Lamens, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, on Friday in the quarterfinals of the Kinoshita Group Japan Open - WTA 250 tournament in Osaka, endowed with total prize money worth 267,080 dollars, inform agerpres.ro.

Ana Bogdan (31, WTA's 111th), a qualifier, lost her first duel with Lamens (25, WTA's 125th) after 2 hours and 23 minutes.

Ana Bogdan will receive a 6,608-dollar cheque and 72 WTA points.

In the doubles, the Romanian-Spanish pair Monica Niculescu/Cristina Bucsa qualified for the finals after the withdrawal of main seeded pair Gabriela Dabrowski (Canada)/Erin Routliffe (New Zealand). For Niculescu and her partner this was the second consecutive match won without playing after having advanced to semifinals benefiting from the withdrawal of Marie Bouzkova (Czech Republic)/Camila Osorio (Colombia) in the quarterfinals.

Niculescu and Bucsa have secured a 7,210-dollar cheque and 163 WTA doubles points.

Niculescu and Bucsa, who have won a WTA title together this year, will play in the final against number three seeded pair Ena Shibahara (Japan)/Laura Siegemund (Germany).
