Tennis: Anca Todoni qualifies for quarterfinals of WTA 125 tournament in Florianopolis (Brazil)

The Romanian tennis player Anca Alexia Todoni qualified, on Wednesday, for the quarterfinals of the WTA 125 tournament in Florianopolis (Brazil), with total prizes of 115,000 dollars, by defeating Brazilian Gabriela Ce 6-1, 6-3.

Todoni (19 years old, the 256th in the WTA) won after one hour and 43 minutes against her experienced opponent (30 years old, the 403rd in the WTA), agerpres reports.

Todoni secured a 4,000-dollar cheque and 29 WTA points, and will play in the quarterfinals against the winner of the match between Slovenian Polona Hercog and Argentina's Nadia Podoroska, the third seed.

Another Romanian, Miriam Bulgaru (25 years old, the 200th in the WTA), will play on Thursday, in the round of 16, versus Argentinian Solana Sierra (19 years old, no. 210 in the WTA), who eliminated the main seed, the American Emma Navarro.
