Romanian tennis player Simona Halep, WTA No. 5, was designated the 4th favorite of the WTA tournament in Wuhan (China) that starts on Monday, with prizes worth 2,288,250 US dollars. Halep will enter directly in the second tour of the competition, where she could meet Irina Begu, if she defeats her opponent in the first tour, a tennis player who will come from qualifications. A prognostic for the quarterfinals reveals a duel with Olympic champion Monica Puig.
Monica Niculescu was initially to attend the qualifications, but she quit taking into account that on Saturday she will be playing in the Seul's semifinal. Halep wasn't successful in the two editions of the Wuhan's tournament, where she lost in 2014, in the second tour (when she was 2nd seed), being defeated by Garbine Muguruza and in 2015 when she was 1st seed but was defeated by Johanna Konta in the round of sixteen (in the third tour).
