Romanian tennis player Patricia Tig dramatically qualified for the semifinals of the Tiriac Foundation Trophy (WTA 125) - with total prizes of 115,000 dollars, hosted by the National Tennis Center - on Friday evening, after defeating the Dutch Anouk Koevermans 6-1, 3-6, 7-5, told Agerpres.
Tig (30 years old, no. 300 in WTA) won after almost three hours of play (2 h 48 min) and secured a cheque for 5,300 dollars and 49 WTA points.
Tig will play in the semifinals versus Kathinka von Deichmann (30 years old, no. 199 in WTA), a duel that will be a first.
Miriam Bulgaru defeated Russian Alevtina Ibraghimova 6-2, 6-2 on Friday and will face Ekaterine Gorgodze (Georgia) in the penultimate act.
