The Romanian-Spanish pair Monica Niculescu/Cristina Bucsa qualified, on Tuesday, for the round of 16 of the doubles event of the WTA 1,000 tennis tournament in Wuhan (China), with total prizes of 3,221.715 dollars, after defeating 6-0, 3-6, 10-4 the couple Demi Schuurs (Netherlands)/Luisa Stefani (Brazil), told Agerpres.
Niculescu and her partner won after an hour and a half before the number seven seeds.
Niculescu and Bucsa, champions this year in Strasbourg, secured a cheque for 13,693 dollars and 120 WTA points in doubles.
In the round of 16, Niculescu and Bucsa will play against the couple Ana Danilina (Kazakhstan)/Irina Hromaceva (Russia).
