The Buzau County Council (CJ) is organising the second edition of the event 'Volcano Day' between 23 and 24 August, in the 'Tinutul Buzaului' UNESCO Global Geopark, and the programme includes themed excursions, guided tours, open-air geology lessons, as well as children's theatre performances.

At the crossroads leading to the Mud Volcanoes towards the village of Beciu, tourists will be able to enjoy artistic performances and have the opportunity to discover local crafts and traditional gastronomy. The schedule includes numerous activities, such as field lessons at the Mud Volcanoes, open-air 'Earth laboratories,' and a themed family excursion by minibus titled 'Stories of Oil, Gas, Salt, and Mud,' following the route Paclele Mari - the Fierbatorii de la Beciu (Boiling Springs of Beciu) - the Oil Springs.

"‘Volcano Day' will begin on Saturday, 23 August, with the official opening and the sound of the bucium (alpine horn), followed by guided tours, open-air geology lessons, children's theatre plays, and an extensive Land Art project - ‘Children's Volcano.' Folk ensembles will perform on stage, and the evening will end with a jam session for young people and a traditional ball. Admission is free, and visitors will enjoy two days of unique experiences, with specially designed themed zones to explore: Volcano Village - where children step into a creative universe near the Mud Volcanoes and discover nature through workshops, games, and art; Adventure & Exploration Area - themed hikes, guided tours, and interactive trails; Children's Zone - creative activities, theatre shows, science experiments, and geological treasure hunts; Local Products Fair - authentic flavours from Tinutul Buzaului; Themed photo corners - perfect settings for 'crater' memories and spectacular backdrops; Relaxation zones - for those wishing to enjoy the fresh air and local stories, with reading spots set up on the grass, bean bags, or hammocks,' informs the Buzau County Council.

On Sunday, visitors will enjoy similar activities, including workshops and guided tours, as well as a folk music recital before the official closing ceremony.

Now in its second edition, the event is organised by the Buzau County Council in partnership with Scortoasa Town Hall, Berca Town Hall, the University of Bucharest, A.D.I. Tinutul Buzaului, the County Museum, the 'George Ciprian' Theatre, the County Centre for Culture and Arts, and the 'Tinutul Buzaului' Association.
