Minister of Education Daniel David has signed an order allocating 1,550,000 RON to school inspectorates for activities under the "Together we take courage" programme, which aims to prevent and reduce violence and crime in schools.
"School must be a safe environment. I encourage schools to join this programme and to organise activities to prevent violence in schools, especially since there is also the opportunity of this financial support, which I am glad that we can continue to offer, in conditions of economic and financial crisis. We cannot stimulate learning and development in unsafe schools, between acts of physical or mental violence. In the context of the constant concern for the reduction of violence in schools, I repeat: we need that the rules to reduce this phenomenon - which are clearly provided for in the law, methodologies and regulations - do not remain empty shells and, at the same time, I reiterate my appeal that all members of the school community to familiarise themselves with them and apply them, for the good of our children and school staff," minister Daniel David was quoted as saying in a press rlease sent to AGERPRES.
He emphasized that violence cannot interfere with actual education.
According to the minister, "unacceptable" behaviours should not be tolerated and should be reported whenever someone is a victim or witness.
"Zero tolerance for any form of violence in the school environment. These behaviours are intolerable not only in the school environment, but at the social level in general," said Daniel David.
