Youth from more than 10 European countries are invited to participate in the pilot edition of UNESCO's Academy for Young Women organized in Bucharest between August 23 - 29 by Romania's National Commission for UNESCO in partnership with the Romanian Cultural Institute (ICR), which will host the official opening, ICR said in a release on Monday.

According to the cited source, attending the event will be UNESCO, ICR representatives, members of the diplomatic corps accredited to Bucharest, ministers, cultural personalities. The event will include the opening of the exhibition 56 ROUTE#anti-violence of artist Carmen Emanuela Popa. The event is part of the project UNESCO's Academy of Young Women - The Fight against Xenophobia, Extremism and Aggression, proposed by Romania's National Commission for UNESCO in August 2016 in Paris and declared eligible for implementation in Romania in 2017.

The venue of the pilot edition of UNESCO's Academy for Young Women 2017 is Hotel Royal, with the event focusing on certain major training sessions: the desire to contribute to establishing a society based on understanding and solidarity, a society of non-violence, dialogue, cooperation and peace. The main outcomes of the project will be synthesized in a bilingual magazine created in real time, right during the event, and which will circulate both electronically and in print. The magazine will be distributed to the delegations participating in the UNESCO General Conference due in Paris this autumn (joining delegations of the governments of UNESCO member countries) as well as at the foreign ICR representation offices.

A special session dedicated to the 9th edition of the Metamorphosis project, aimed at young people shaping a common cultural space to reflect the European identity, will also take place under the banner of the event. According to the release, the official closing ceremony will take place on Monday, August 28, at 18:00 hrs, at the headquarters of Romania's National Commission for UNESCO.
