The Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orban, stated, on Friday, that his country managed to buy 1.75 billion cubic meters of gas last year through Romania and, as the energy collaboration with Ukraine is getting blocked, the more important the relevant collaboration with Romania becomes.

Viktor Orban is on a visit to Bucharest, where he had a meeting with Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu.

"I believe what the Prime Minister is saying, that we are starting a new era in the collaboration between the two countries, we also have the trust fund. As you have heard, Hungary is important for Romania from an economic point of view, and, from an energy point of view, Romania is extremely important for Hungary. Last year, through you, we were able to buy 1.75 billion cubic meters of gas, which, together with the gas from the southern pipeline, covered Hungary's gas demand, for which I want to express my gratitude and thanks to the Prime Minister", said Viktor Orban after the meeting held at the Victoria Palace with Marcel Ciolacu.

He added that Hungary wants to continue and deepen the collaboration with Romania.

"Romania is a very important transit country from an energy point of view and, as the energy collaboration with Ukraine is getting blocked, the energy collaboration with Romania becomes all the more important. We discussed that in these strategic fields the collaboration between the two countries should be deepened. So, Hungary wants to continue and deepen the collaboration with Romania", emphasized the Hungarian Prime Minister.
