The volume of construction works declined overall by 3.7 percent as gross series in the first seven months of 2018 as compared to the same period of the previous year, a drop reflected in new construction (-7 percent) and in capital repair works (-0.2 percent), according to data of the National Institute of Statistics (INS) published on Friday.
By construction objects, residential buildings works decreased by 28.9 percent. Increases were recorded in construction of civil engineering works (+8.6 percent) and in non-residential buildings by 2.5 percent.
Adjusted for working days and seasonality, the volume of construction works declined overall by 1.7 percent. On structural elements, decreases were recorded in new constructions by 4.2 percent.
Increases were recorded in maintenance and current repairs, by 6.1 percent and for capital repair works by 1.3 percent.
By construction objects, the volume of construction works declined in residential buildings by 26.8 percent. Increases were recorded in construction of civil engineering works and non-residential constructions by 11.3 and by 4.1, respectively.
