The European Commission's Directorate General for Structural Reform Support (DG REFORM) and the World Bank provide Romania financial and technical assistance with the implementation of reforms, including those set forth by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, supporting the country's shift to a more sustainable and greener economic model that builds on stronger public institutions, a thriving private sector, and a more resilient and inclusive society, representatives of the two institutions told AGERPRES.
Gallina A. Vincellete, WB Director for European Union Countries, said that the global lender provides Romania financial and technical assistance that is helping it pursue sound economic policies and accelerate structural reforms, including those set in its National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) and beyond, invest in enhanced delivery of quality public services, and achieve convergence in income with the European Union.
In his turn, Mario Nava, Director General, DG Reform - European Commission, said that DG REFORM has supported Romania in all important areas of the economy, providing technical support for about 100 reforms in areas which are significant at EU level, and/or represent key national domains, such as: green transition; digital transformation; public administration and governance; competitiveness; skills, education and training; health and long term care; labour market, social protection and migration; revenue administration and public financial management; financial sector and access to finance.
He added that DG REFORM assists Romania throughout the entire reform process, offering a unique combination of expertise from the European Commission, EU Member States' national administrations, international organisations and/or the private sector. For example, the Technical Support Instrument Programme is supporting Romania with the implementation of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan and with 25 specific reforms that contribute directly or indirectly to the achievement of NRRP milestones.
