festivalul George Enescu

New musical pieces by more than 30 Romanian composers will be played in the orchestral and chamber concerts performed at the current edition of the George Enescu International Festival, the Union of Romanian Composers and Musicologists announced on Wednesday.

No less than 12 contemporary Romanian musical creations will be featured on the concert bills: eight overture-type pieces - Dan Dediu (Formido - August 29, and Frenesia 2 - September 10), Doina Rotaru (Nymphaea - September 2), Dan Buciu (Cristiane - September 2), Cornel Taranu (Cercar la Nota - September 3), Adrian Pop (Hore/Ring Dances - September 9), Livia Teodorescu-Ciocanea (Eritrean Ring - September 16), Ulpiu Vlad (Lumina sunetului centenar/Light of the Centennial Sound - September 24), two concerts: Diana Rotaru (De simplici duplex II for clarinet and orchestra - September 3), Adrian Iorgulescu (Ipostaze VI/Instances VI for violin, brass and percussion - September 10) and two symphonies: Viorel Munteanu (Symphony No. 2 - September 17), Maia Ciobanu (Symphony No. 2 from Enescu - September 23).

The program of the George Enescu International Festival also includes concerts dedicated to Romanian music, organized by the Union of Romanian Composers and Musicologists in partnership with Artexim - specifically four chamber concerts that will take place at the National Music University in Bucharest, at the George Enescu and Constantin Silvestri halls, two trio recitals (Contrasts - September 3, and Profile - September 22), and two lied recitals (duo Manoleanu - September 9, and Codreanu-Dembinski - September 10).

Showcased in this part of the festival will be emblematic works by Romanian composers from all generations, with an emphasis on the so-called "golden generation" - Stefan Niculescu, Aurel Stroe, Anatol Vieru, Miriam Marbe, Pascal Bentoiu, Theodor Grigoriu, and on female composers - Violeta Dinescu, Mihaela Vosganian, Carmen Carneci, Olguta Lupu, Diana Dembinski.
