X Day: ICI D|SERVICES project, launched in Paris simultaneously with AGERPRES & COSR NFT collections

Since its introduction into the digital world, Blockchain technology has enjoyed considerable attention in several disciplines and business areas, as well as in academia and industry and now at the institutional and governmental levels, due to its distinctive features such as data integrity and security, decentralization and reliability, said the managing director of the National Informatics Research and Development Institute - ICI Bucharest, Adrian Victor Vevera, at the X-Day conference in Paris, where he presented the ICI D|SERVICES programme - National Registry of Issuers and Digital Assets.

Adrian Victor Vevera announced that ICI Bucharest is making its debut in the Web3 digital space and is coming to the Romanian NFT market with ICI D|SERVICES, a platform where the public, institutions and government entities are invited to join in order to access the principles of digitization through decentralized technologies.

Vevera also announced the launch in the next period of the first two NFT institutional collections, on nft.ici.ro: the Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee and AGERPRES.

"After a year of continuous research, together with our partners from Elrond Network, we announce ICI D|SERVICES - the National Registry of Issuers and Digital Assets - the first decentralized institutional NFT market in Romania, which will appear soon, where the public and institutions can buy and sell digital assets/NFTs. Also, ICI Bucharest aims to soon implement a decentralized DNS (Domain Name Service) and TLD (Top-Level Domain) system, which will use Elrond's global network to overcome the limitations of the classic DNS and TLD system as potential existing vulnerabilities of current centralized Web2 architectures. ICI D|SERVICES will operate on Elrond's carbon negative global blockchain network and METASPACES technology," Vevera went on.

He also announced that the AGERPRES National News Agency and ICI Bucharest have decided to enter the Web3 space and launch a limited collection of NFT historical archive, the "Memories From the of Future Self".

"133+ years of existence, historical photo archive of 4.5 million (photos), over 40 partner countries. Looking from the present to the past, AGERPRES wants to communicate a new approach, by raising awareness of the historical importance of the crucial periods in which Romania decided on a new future of determination, hope and choice. This first edition NFT collection will feature archival photographs that offer rare moments captured in history. The AGERPRES collection will establish an emotional channel between photo collectors and the Web3 experience,'' Adrian Vevera assessed.

Moreover, ICI Bucharest managing director added that in 2024 our country will celebrate 100 years since the first participation of a Romanian Olympic team and the first Olympic medal won at the Paris Olympic Games in 1924, in France, and to mark the historic moment, ICI Bucharest and the Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee will unveil a limited NFT debut sports collection, the "Generational Circle - From Paris 1924 to Paris 2024".

"108+ years of existence, 20 Olympic Games, 309 Olympic medals, 2,353 Romanian athletes. The "The Generational Circle" NFT collection will represent a recognition of the legacy of the Romanian Olympic Committee and the history of Romania's presence at the Olympic Games, combined in historical moments represented by the NFT, bringing value and sustainability to the Romanian digital space. The foundation collection will create a bridge between sports lovers and the Web3 experience with the Olympic Committee, offering the community premium access to future NFT auctions and discounts," the ICI Bucharest managing director stressed.

On the other hand, Adrian Vevera said that in Romania the adoption rate of the institutional blockchain is still low, but he argued that there is an extraordinary potential to evolve and bring innovative solutions to the digital era.

"This is one of the key reasons why ICI Bucharest was behind the direction of research and development studies towards emerging decentralized technologies. As a national institution, we are taking the first steps in the Web3 ecosystems. Considering that the role of digitization can be addressed to different fields of the institutional apparatus such as intellectual property, insurance, education, health, the supply chain, the ticket industry and others, ICI Bucharest has approached the development of a technical solution that combines the principles of digitization with technologies decentralized and NFT," Vevera added.

ICI Bucharest managing director Vevera also said that Blockchain and Web3 technologies constantly bring remarkable potential to the further development of NFT functionalities, which could be used for future utilities and bring users closer to institutions and public administration for superior services and the development of a multi-level circular economy.

"In Romania there is also an emerging approach regarding the research and development of new decentralized technical solutions, and the vision of ICI Bucharest is to offer a Web3 environment, an NFT market that facilitates NFT services for users, institutions and public administration. This institutional NFT market is the first of its kind in Romania and the European Union," he pointed out, adding that over time ICI Bucharest has embraced the idea of combining academic research with industrial technological advances, and the institute's services currently cover the National Registry for .ro Domain Names, Cloud Infrastructure, Forensic Laboratory, Technical Certifications and IT&C Educational Courses.

In turn, Beniamin Mincu, the co-founder of Elrond, wants to draw people interested in building technology products with a positive impact on society.

"I think this productive interaction is a very good signal that institutions are not remaining part of the past, but are looking at technologies, interacting and trying to be part of the group of leaders who are not just waiting for change to come, but defining change and guide it in a very productive direction. The fact that there are more makes us happy, I hope that the other institutions will take an example and I hope that this is the first step of the many steps that we will see. I think these things are a signal that marks a change both in culture and in what technology can do. We are happy to see receptive people, who do not wait for opportunities to pass, but take them and make the most of them," Beniamin Mincu, co-founder of Elrond, told AGERPRES, referring to the partnership with ICI and the announcement regarding the first NFT collections of AGERPRES and COSR.
