The leader of PSD senators, Daniel Zamfir, declared on Thursday that it is Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan's "responsibility" to dismiss Diana Buzoianu, the Minister of the Environment, because she would be "lacking any authority" in the context of the drinking water crisis in Prahova and Dambovita counties.
Daniel Zamfir's request comes after a hearing in the Senate's Economic Committee of specialists who presented the technical causes at the Paltinu dam that led to the cessation of water supply.
"I requested this hearing at the Senate Economic Committee precisely because we have reached a critical situation. There are over 100,000 people who do not have drinking water today. The other day, I heard a request from the Minister of the Environment for the resignation of two directors within the structure of the Ministry of the Environment. We wanted to see what their involvement was and what the blame was attributed to them in connection with the action they were supposed to take. After two and a half hours of discussions, things became clear from our point of view. Everyone at the Ministry of the Environment knew very well what was happening at the Paltinu Dam. Therefore, the Minister knowingly lied," said Zamfir, a member of the Economic Committee, after the hearing.
The leader of the PSD senators believes that the Minister of the Environment, Diana Buzoianu, and the general director of the National Administration "Romanian Waters", Florin Ghita, should be dismissed.
"Therefore, PSD no longer demands, and I assure you, the resignation of the Minister. From this moment on, the responsibility lies strictly with the Prime Minister, who has, at this moment, all the elements on the table. If Mr. Bolojan continues to bail out a minister who is currently devoid of any authority, this minister can no longer manage the affairs of the Ministry of Environment in any way, just as President Ghita (ed. n - the general director of the National Administration "Romanian Waters", Florin Ghita) can no longer manage them either... Therefore, as a matter of urgency, the two I mentioned, Mrs. Buzoianu and the president of the National Authority "Romanian Waters", must urgently leave office. And, I repeat, it is no longer just the Minister's decision to resign, it is Prime Minister Bolojan's responsibility to urgently dismiss the Minister", Zamfir added
