The roaming tariffs in Romania, as in all of the Member States of the European Union will drop starting with 30 April, this being the last intermediary stage before the total elimination of these tariffs in the EU, as foreseen for June 2017.
"In this period, the Romanian users who have chosen the basic roaming tariff plans will communicate in the EU countries at the same costs as in Romania, which the operators could add an additional tax to of maximum 5 eurocent/minute for the calls to the EU countries, maximum 1.14 eurocent/minute for the calls received, at least 2 eurocent/minute for sending a text message to the EU countries, while the access to the Internet to a EU country could be additionally taxed by maximum 5 eurocent/MB (all these tariffs without the VAT)," the National Authority for Administration and Regulation in Communications (ANCOM) says in a release.
The ANCOM specifies that the users of prepaid phone cards should load an additional credit which the value of the overcharge for the roaming services should be deducted from, in order to benefit from those services.
Romania, alongside all EU countries will completely eliminate the roaming tariffs as of 15 June 2017.
