The 8th edition of Spotlight - the International Festival of Light, slated for October 11 - 13, will immerse downtown Bucharest's Victoriei Thoroughfare in a unique show of light and technology, with impressive light art installations and videomapping sessions beamed on the city's landmark buildings, spotlight.ro informs.
Spotlight 2024, titled "Bucharest 565. Urban connections", focuses on a complex theme that reflects the interaction between new media art and contemporary challenges, the organizers said in a release.
A first in the tradition of the festival will be the opening, at ARCUB - Gabroveni Inn, of one of the largest retrospective exhibitions of renowned graphic artist and illustrator Tudor Banus. The "Controlled Delirium - Tudor Banus" projection designed by Cultech - The Art Behind Technology will transform the facade of the Gabroveni Inn into a true portal to surrealist worlds and contemporary mythologies.
Spotlight #8 also includes emblematic buildings and locations in Bucharest: the National Military Club, the Odeon Theatre, the Telephone Company Palace, the Novotel Hotel, the Music Store, the Revolution Square, the Central University Library, the National Art Museum of Romania, the George Enescu Square, and the InterContinental Athenee Palace Hotel.
The program starts at 19:00 on each day of the festival and ends at 23:00. Spotlight - The International Festival of Light is a project organized by the Capital City Hall, through ARCUB - the Cultural Center of the City of Bucharest, and is a highly popular new media festival, attracting over 100,000 visitors annually and transforming the city into a meeting place for lovers of visual art and technology, showcasing multimedia projects at the intersection of art, design and technology.
