The total value of the volumes traded on Black Friday and processed by PayU GPO Romania reached almost 230 million lei by 9:12 a.m., said Elena Gheorghe, the company's country manager, on Friday.
'So far we are talking about 230 million lei already, of which 32% are instalment payments, but there are many successfully placed transactions still pending acceptance. We are talking about one-click transactions, meaning that customers have saved their cards to place transactions quickly, and this year we are at around 71%. Cross-border transactions account for about 15%. The average basket value so far is 650 lei for the merchants we have selected,' said Elena Gheorghe at the Black Friday media centre.
She mentioned that PayU GPO carried out a study on consumers' intentions for Black Friday and found that the average budget allocated for this edition was 1,100 lei.
According to a company press release, by 9:00 a.m. the total volume successfully processed was 168 million lei. The number of transactions was around 245,000, of which 68% were one-click payments.
The top three largest transactions were 45,951 lei at 8:47 a.m., 35,444 lei at 8:43 a.m. and 34,570 lei at 8:46 a.m.
The average shopping basket was 690 lei, more than three times higher than on an ordinary day. The average shopping basket for instalment purchases was approximately 1,178 lei, about twice as high as on a normal day.
The top product categories purchased were cosmetics, Fast-Moving Consumer Goods-FMCG (groceries and non-perishable foods), children's products and IT&C.
