The balance of non-governmental loan granted by credit institutions increased by 0.8 per cent in October 2018 (0.3 per cent in real terms) compared with September, up to 249.622 billion lei, according to a press release of the National Bank of Romania (BNR) sent to AGERPRES on Monday.
"The loan in lei increased by 0.9 per cent (0.4 per cent in real terms) and the loan in foreign currency increased by 0.6 per cent (expressed in euro, the loan in foreign currency increased by 0.5 per cent). On October 31, 2018, the non-governmental loan recorded a growth of 6.8 per cent (2.4 per cent in real terms) against October 31, 2017, due to an increase by 13.6 per cent in the lei component (8.9 per cent in real terms) and the drop by 4.1 per cent in the foreign currency component expressed in lei (expressed in euro, the loan in foreign currency dropped by 5.5 per cent)," reads the abovementioned release.
On the other hand, the governmental loan increased by 4.1 per cent in October 2018 compared with the previous month, up to 106.016 billion lei. On October 31, 2018, the governmental loan increased by 8 per cent (3.6 per cent in real terms) compared with October 31, 2017.
The monetary mass in a broad sense (M3) recorded a balance of 368.214 billion lei in October 2018. Compared with September 2018, it increased by 0.5 per cent (unmodified in real terms), and compared with October 2017 it increased by 9.4 per cent (5 per cent in real terms).
