The Minister of Internal Affairs, Lucian Bode on Thursday demanded that prefects pay enhanced attention to the whole set of measures to limit the spread of SARS-CoV-2 infections, with an emphasis on ensuring compliance with health protection regulations, especially at private events involving crowding, emphasizing that, according to experts, the fifth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic will come to Romania in a maximum of three weeks.
He participated, together with the Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca, in a video conference with the prefects on the preparation of the cold season and the winter holidays.
"We are in a period of calm, but these measures are needed to respond effectively to the challenges of the future pandemic wave which, according to experts, will have a greater impact compared to wave four. According to all estimates, wave five will come in a maximum of three weeks," said Lucian Bode.
He pointed out that in the next period a large volume of work will be related to the growing number of people to be quarantined, estimated at over 115,000.
The minister requested special attention to the logistical training for the institutionalized quarantine - the provision of accommodation, transport and food.
