The 14th edition of the Bucharest International Experimental Film Festival - BIEFF will take place between September 24 and 29, at Cinema Elvire Popesco, Cinema Union and Cinemateca Eforie in Bucharest, informs a press release sent to AGERPRES on Thursday.

The theme of this year's edition is "Serious Games".

Among the screenings expected at the festival there are two Romanian films that had their world premiere this month at the Locarno International Film Festival - "Opt ilustrate din lumea ideala", directed by Radu Jude and Christian Ferencz Flatz and "Sleep #2", directed by Radu Jude, but also the latest feature film by the director Ana Lungu, "Triton", presented in the world premiere in June, as part of the International Competition of the FID Marseille Festival.

One of the events of the edition is a focus program, structured in five parts, dedicated to the intersection between cinema and video games. It aims to familiarize viewers with the "machinima" genre, a media phenomenon born within gaming communities that experienced a rapid ascent in the last decade, becoming increasingly used by visual artists and experimental filmmakers alike.

Bringing together both short and medium films and an original feature film, the program offers an overview of this phenomenon and brings to the attention of the Bucharest audience the works of renowned artists such as Phil Solomon, Harun Farocki or Lawrence Lek.

The BIEFF.14 subscriptions have been put on sale and are available, in limited numbers, the organizers informed.
