The Law on Administrative Code, which establishes special pensions for the locally elected officials, is unconstitutional in its entirety, Romania's Constitutional Court ruled on Tuesday.
According to a Tuesday press release, CCR unanimously admitted the constitutionally challenge filed by the parliamentary groups of the PNL (National Liberal Party), USR (Save Romania Union) and PMP (People's Movement Party), and also by President Iohannis, and found that the Law on Administrative Code is unconstitutional, in its entirety, as it contradicts the provisions of articles 141 paragraph (5) and of the articles 61 paragraph (2) and 75 paragraphs (4) and (5) of the Constitution.
On July 31, President Klaus Iohannis filed a constitutional challenges with the CCR with respect to the Administrative Code.
