The National Weather Administration issued a Code Orange advisory for heat and heat-related discomfort effective on Wednesday across 8 counties and in Bucharest.
According to the weather forecasters, the counties of Arad, Timis, Caras-Severin, Mehedinti, Dolj, Olt, Teleorman, Giurgiu, Ilfov, and Bucharest will experience temperature highs of 39 degrees Celsius, and the temperature-humidity index (THI) will exceed the critical threshold of 80 units. Nighttime temperature lows will be around 20 degrees Celsius.
The rest of Romania is covered by a Code Yellow heat advisory, with highs of 37 degree Celsius and uncomfortable humidity expected.
The forecasters said that the relentless heat wave will keep the country in grip throughout the week.
