Almost the entire country will be under a Code Orange for heatwave and heightened thermal discomfort during Friday, when temperatures will reach 40 degrees in certain areas, according to a warning issued by the National Meteorological Administration (ANM).
In most of the country, the heat wave will intensify. It will be hot, and the maximum temperatures will be between 36 and 40 degrees Celsius, possibly higher in Banat, Oltenia, Muntenia, as well as in the south of Crisana and Moldova. Thermal discomfort will be accentuated, and the temperature-humidity index (ITU) will exceed the critical threshold of 80 units.
In most areas, the nights will be tropical, with temperatures that will not drop below 20 degrees Celsius.
Meteorologists have also issued a Code Yellow for heat wave in Maramures, east and northeast of Transylvania, Eastern Carpathians and the coastal area, where the maximum temperatures will range between 34-36 degrees Celsius, there will be high thermal discomfort and local scorching heat. The temperature-humidity index (ITU) will exceed the critical threshold of 80 units on extended areas.
