A total of 29 Ukrainian refugees - 15 adults and 14 children - are currently being housed in Covasna County, most of them in Targu Secuiesc and Intorsura Buzaului, county Prefect Raduly Istvan said on Tuesday.

Raduly Istvan said that no Ukrainian citizen has so far applied for temporary residence or asylum in Covasna County, Agerpres.ro informs.

"I would like to thank not only the authorities, who immediately responded to our requests, but the civilian population too. Locals have taken ten refugees in their homes and aid organisations received tons of basic necessities and food. If someone should be signalled out, those would be the six volunteers of the Maltese Aid Service led by Szekely Robert, who spent nine days at the Siret border crossing point in Suceava County, the volunteers of the Red Cross and other bodies, but also the highly committed Father Antonie Tamas from Valcele," Prefect Raduly Istvan told a press conference.
