Prime Minister Viorica Dancila declared on Tuesday in Strasbourg that it is important that any criteria related to the use of European funds be clear, transparent and in the interest of the direct beneficiary.
That is how Dancila answered when asked whether the advancement of the negotiations on the multiannual financial framework is a priority for Romania and what will be the position of Romania, which is holding the Presidency of the EU Council, regarding the proposal to freeze payments to the states that do not observe the rule of law or endanger it.
"At this point, these issues are being negotiated within the Council. We must continue negotiations with the member states and we need to take into account the proposals made by the member states. Otherwise, it is very important that any criteria relating to the use of European funds be clear, transparent and in the interest of the direct beneficiary of European funds. I believe that these issues must be taken into consideration and, as I previously mentioned, the rotating Presidency must be an impartial mediator and bring consensus among member states", Dancila said in the press statements made together with the President of the European Parliament, Antonio Tajani.
