A specialised team from the Ministry of National Defence (MApN) will travel to Tulcea County on Monday morning after radars detected a drone on Sunday evening that entered Romanian airspace in the Ceatalchioi area and flew along the border, with its signal disappearing after about 10 minutes near the locality of Somova.
According to MApN, on Sunday evening the ministry's radar surveillance system detected an aerial target flying north of Chilia Veche, over Ukrainian territory, close to the border with Romania, agerpres reports.
Two Romanian Air Force F-16 aircraft on Air Policing combat duty took off from the 86th Air Base at Borcea to monitor the situation.
The National Military Command Centre notified the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations that measures were being taken to alert the population of Tulcea County, and a RO-ALERT warning was issued at 20:35.
According to radar data, the aerial target entered Romanian airspace in the Ceatalchioi area and flew along the border. Its signal disappeared from radar after approximately 10 minutes near Somova.
The air alert ended at 22:05.
A specialised MApN team will travel to the area on Monday morning to investigate.
