The Minister of National Defence, Gabriel Les, welcomed on Wednesday, the Czech Ambassador to Romania, Vladimir Valky, whom he talked to about the cooperation of the two countries within NATO and the EU. According to a press release of the Defence Ministry (MApN), both sides confirmed their commitment to strengthening relations of cooperation in the current security context "by leveraging the existing potential, both in joint training, education and research, as well as through participation in missions under NATO, the EU and the UN command. At the same time, the Czech official has highlighted some opportunities for cooperation in the technical-military domain.
The officials have also emphasized the major role played by the two countries' armies in multinational programmes meant to develop military capabilities under the aegis of NATO and the EU, such as the Framework Nations Concept coordinated by Germany. The two dignitaries advocated the need for increased political-military dialogue between Romania and the Czech Republic, through meetings with the ministers of Defence, Secretaries of State and Chiefs of Staff, specifies MApN release.
