The Minister of Economy, Radu Miruta, declared on Friday in Brasov that the revitalization of the Fagaras Powder Factory cannot be discussed as long as there, a few hundred meters from the place where explosives are manufactured, garbage is burned in conditions "that do not comply with the law" and specified that the results of checks carried out there by the Ministry's Control Body have been transmitted to the responsible institutions.

"For now, in Fagaras, we have a mountain of garbage next to some explosives depots. We cannot have any claims to performance issues, as long as, a few hundred meters from the explosive substance, garbage is being burned in a situation that is not in accordance with the law and I have asked the Environmental Guard to ensure that it is respected. I am concerned about what is happening at the Fagaras Powder Factory because those explosive powders are needed, I know that it is an old project that was not continued. (...) I sent the Control Corps to see what the problems are there (...) and the results were sent to the Romanian state institutions that have the capacity to take some measures. (...) I am in contact with the people of Fagaras, who often accuse injustices, inequities that are being done to them. I do not have the leverage to tell the director there "They 'go home' because they don't do their job, that's the leverage of the Board of Directors and that's normal," Miruta said in a press conference.

At the same time, the minister said that a problem of some companies in the defense industry is that, due to poor management, they have not modernized their production capacities and that is why, currently, they are losing contracts.

"There are companies in the Romanian defense industry that have tens of millions of euros in their accounts (...) and, at the same time, refuse large-scale contracts because they do not have the capacity to produce the products required of them in the time period required. Why is this happening? Because they have not modernized their production lines, because they have had poor management," said Radu Miruta.

He also referred to the Romanian drone project at Carfil Brasov, in connection with which he emphasized that its success "will be determined by the performance of the product they will manage to make" and "by successfully passing the tests it must pass in order to be authorized and used by the Romanian Army."

"I don't know what the current status of these tests is. In the past, they were not passed," said the Minister of Economy, answering a question from the press.

At the same time, he specified that, from the information he has, the Airbus H215 helicopter model would not meet the criteria required to be purchased through the European SAFE program.

"We have an Airbus presence in Brasov County and I am concerned that it will grow. When a licensed production line is moved from one side to another, it is conditioned by the increase in the number of orders. Through the SAFE mechanism, there are chances to acquire helicopters. Regarding the characteristics of that helicopter, (the decision - ed.n) is in the area of the Romanian Army. (...) From the information I have at the moment, the criteria required by the Romanian Army are above those offered by the 215 model", stated the Minister of Economy.

Last but not least, he mentioned the Victoria Powder Factory project, whose construction will begin next year.

"When we came to the ministry, we were told that it was a contract ready to be signed, because it had been negotiated in every way, with law firms, and nothing could be changed. The form at that time was a great disadvantage for Romania and for Brasov County. That contract was modified, and through the changes, the amount of 92 million euros was brought to the advantage of the Romanian state and, indirectly, for Brasov County", Radu Miruta also pointed out.

The Minister of Economy, Digitalization, Entrepreneurship and Tourism, Radu Miruta, was in Brasov on Friday, where he visited, together with USR parliamentarians from the county, the Carfil factory, subordinated to Romarm, and a local private company.

Also, his program includes, in the evening, a meeting with representatives of the Brasov business environment.A
