Romania has an allocation of 60 billion euros in the European Commission's proposal for the 2028-2034 budget, a decisive amount for our future - and we could access additional funds from the Competitiveness Fund, with a target of approximately 10 billion euros, the Minister of Investments and European Projects, Dragos Pislaru said on Friday.

"From the 2 trillion euro budget [for the period 2028 - 2034] proposed by the European Commission, Romania has an allocation of 60 billion euros and maybe some money from the Competitiveness Fund, where we should at least have a target of about 10 billion euros, even if it is not allocated to Romania directly. We are moving from the PNRR [National Recovery and Resilience Plan] to the PPNR - the National and Regional Partnership Plan. This amount is decisive for our future after 2028 - and I believe that we must have a vision in which European funds are no longer used only to divide them between various policies, with competition between large policies, but to look at the leverage effect that we can have on national and private funds, within a coherent framework of a country plan," Dragos Pislaru said at the press statements that took place on the sidelines of the high-level conference on the future of cohesion policy: "Cohesion 2027+: a factor stimulating long-term development, inclusive economic competitiveness and resilience across Europe".

According to him, by February 26, when the General Affairs Council on cohesion is organized in Cyprus, Romania should have "greater clarity on the implementation mechanisms".

The event "Cohesion 2027+: a driver of long-term development, inclusive economic competitiveness and resilience across Europe", taking place on Friday in Bucharest, consolidates Romania's ongoing efforts for a strong future Cohesion Policy, which will remain the EU's main long-term structural investment policy, in support of harmonious development and the elimination of development gaps, note the organizers.
