Minister of Environment, Waters and Forests Tanczos Barna told a press conference on Thursday that this year's edition of the "Rabla" car scrappage programme starts on February 4, on Green Friday, adding that all particulars will be presented the following week.

"The "Rabla" Programme for the 2022 - 2024 version will be completed in a few days. We have promised predictability to the profile associations and we want to present a programme that aims at sequencing and predictability in terms of the funding and benefits of such a programme, and not to close the gates immediately after the money is spent. There are currently measures in place to encourage those who want to buy new cars, including to support the local car industry. The "Rabla" scrappage programme for this year will be launched on February 4, on Green Friday. The programme, as proposed, will probably be ready tomorrow. Next week we will have all the elements and present them," minister Tanczos said.

In 2021, the "Rabla Classic" and "Scrap Plus" programmes started on April 26 for both individuals and legal entities.

Following the end-November decision of the Administration of the Environment Fund (AFM) to suspend the application sessions for the "Rabla Classic" and "Rabla Plus" programmes, the institution announced, mid-December, that it will supplement the budgets of the first two government programmes with 300 million RON each, starting with December 3, but also for the "Energy Efficient House", as of December 15, "for a streamlining of the financing lines". "The amounts will be used this year only to ensure the necessary funds for the approval of the admission files submitted by the legal entity applicants during the sessions concluded on December 2," the AFM said in a press release.
