A number of 14,109 persons deprived of liberty have exercised their right to vote in the penitentiary units for the referendum for the Constitution's revision, declared on Sunday, for AGERPRES, the spokesperson of the National Administration of Penitentiaries (ANP) Cristina Enache.
She specified that the voting process in the penitentiaries has ended and from the 14,109 convicts, 9,374 voted on Saturday, and the rest on Sunday.
"On October 5, 2015, in the penitentiary units there were 21,375 persons deprived of liberty, of which, 18,608 were identified as having a right to vote in the national referendum for the revision of the Constitution. Among those, 14,678 have formulated requests to exercise that right. (...) According to art. 9, paragraph 6, of the Decision of the Central Electoral Bureau (BEC), "if more than 200 people who are in detention request the right to exercise their right to vote through a special ballot box, the requests can be submitted, by 21:00hrs, October 6, 2018, at the latest," the ANP said on Friday.
