The Government will adopt this week a set of solutions that include caps and compensations on the price of electrical energy and natural gas for one year, starting with April 1, announced, on Monday, Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca.
"We will intervene in support of the Romanian economy through a set of solutions that include caps and compensations on the price of energy and natural gas, for one year, starting with April 1. For a consumption of up to 100 kwh per month, Romanians will pay 0.68 RON/kwh, and for a consumption comprised between 100 and 300 kwh they will pay 0.8 RON/kwh. Regarding gas, the price practiced for households will be 0.31 RON/kwh. With the exception of large consumers, which will have dedicated packages of state aid, all Romanian companies will benefit from a fixed price on electrical energy of 1 RON per kwh, VAT included, and 0.37 RON/kwh for gas, VAT included," said Ciuda, at the Victoria Palace.
The Prime Minister added that the Government is in talks with the European Commission to continue this year the support granted to large consumers, such as chemical plants or those in the raw materials manufacturing industry.
"The measures that we will take will protect the population and economy, preventing the risks of an accentuated rise of prices and inflation. The Government stands with citizens and the business environment, in order to protect jobs and economic stability," said Nicolae Ciuca.
The head of the Executive reiterated, at the same time, that Romania is well supplied from a food point of view. "I am in permanent contact with the Ministry of Agriculture and Romanian food producers, the representatives of large stores. Romania is well supplied, our stocks ensure all the goods that we need. Our farmers have all the support of the Government to prepare this agricultural year," said Ciuca.
